Our History

History

1961
Coswell is born.
Coswell is born out of the Guaber experience. Founded in 1961 by Paolo Gualandi and Athos Bergamaschi, Paolo's brother Sergio will soon join them. The first note from mid-March reads "Takings 17,060, expenses 16,430. I've earned 630 liras!" Guaber makes his entrance into the industry!
1963
Production of bubble baths, shampoos and deodorants starts.
It seems that personal hygiene products "have a great future" so, the two partners Gualandi and Bergamaschi, equip Guaber to produce bubble baths, shampoos and deodorants.
1972
Sergio Gualandi joins the company.
Paolo Gualandi's brother Sergio, joins the company as head of the sales network. He will then be President of the company for many years.
1975
Antica Erboristeria is born.
Antica Erboristeria is the first personal hygiene line to have been based on natural active ingredients. Along with it we also see the birth of the brands Cera Grey, Vape, Coloreria Italiana, Drago. With Neutromed, the PH 5.5 personal hygiene line, Guaber creates a segment that will remain unmatched for years.
1988
Eurocosmesi is born.
Eurocosmesi is designed to produce and sell perfumes in collaboration with the best Italian fashion designers.
1990
New Bionsen line is launched.
Guaber sells the Neutromed brand and continues to grow on the strength of its own labels, including Vape and Grey. The new Bionsen line is launched. The brand is based on Japanese thermal trace elements, the result of advanced cosmetic-dermatological research carried out by the University Clinic of Siena and the Center for Thermal Studies in Tokyo. The Gualandi family strengthens its presence on the Board of Directors with the entry of two of Paolo Gualandi's four sons: Andrea and Michele.
1991
Villa Angelica becomes the headquarters of the Herbal Institute.
Villa Angelica becomes the headquarters of the Herbal Institute for the cultivation, study and use of medicinal plants. A place where research and innovation find their maximum synergy.
1995
Eurocosmesi launches Swiss brand Transvital.
Swiss brand Transvital is launched. It is the brainchild of physician-researcher Dr. Jean Thomas and it is now distributed in top perfumeries worldwide.
2000
Hotel Cristallo becomes home of Transvital Swiss Beauty Center.
Reopened after a radical renovation, the Hotel Cristallo in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno) becomes home to the Transvital Swiss Beauty Center. The operation is signed by Gualandi.
2001
Launch of L'Acchiappacolore.
In 2001, L'Acchiappacolore is launched, a small sheet that will revolutionize the way we do the laundry.
2002
The online MarcheTop service is born.
In the early years of digital boom, an online sale and customer relation service is born: with Marchetop.it, Coswell is one of the first Italian companies to provide the service. Marchetop is now shopcoswell.com.
2003
New lunches: Vape Portatile, Vape Derm Heral, Grey OK and L'Acchiappagrigio.
Thanks to its flair for innovation, Gauber is a protagonist on the market and it launches Vape Portable Electric Release, Vape Derm Herbal Spray, Grey OK Laundry Additives and L'Acchiappagrigio. Paola and Jacopo Gualandi, Paolo Gualandi's youngest children, join the company.
2004
Acquisition of the Vim brand from Unilever.
The acquisition of Vim from Unilever brings back to Italy a brand which boasts a one hundred years long history, and the Vape Foundation is created at the behest of the Gualandi family.
2006
Guaber Coswell is born, Biorepair® is born.
Guaber Coswell for personal care and wellness products and Guaber Household for home and plant care products are born. In the August of the same year, Guaber Spa and Axa Private Equity sign an agreement to create a large French-Italian holding company with subsidiaries throughout Europe: Spotless Group. Thanks to the collaboration with the University of Bologna and Prof. Norberto Roveri, Biorepair® is born. It is the world's first and only microRepair®-based toothpaste capable of repairing tooth enamel.
2008
Coswell enters pharmacy.
With the acquisition of 65 percent of Euritalia, Coswell makes its appearance on pharmacies shelves with its own retail network.
2009
PREP brand takeover.
Coswell takes over PREP brand, the historic, multi-purpose cream that leads the grooming market.
2010
Reinforcement and complete acquisition of Euritalia.
May: the team is strengthened with the return of Andrea Gualandi, who has lead the Spotless Group Italian subsidiary for four years. December: Coswell acquires the remaining minority stakes in Euritalia, which thus becomes the Group pharmacy division.
2011
Total acquisition of Eurocosmesi.
Coswell takes total control of Eurocosmesi and creates the new Coswell Group structure, which consists of four separate business units: Coswell Large Distribution, Eurocosmesi, Euritalia Pharma, Export Division.
2013
New toothpaste launch - Blanx White Shock.
Coswell launches the revolutionary new Blanx White Shock toothpaste. Luciano Soprani, a new important fashion market brand is introduced within the Eurocosmesi Profumi portfolio.
2014
New acquisitions: Fave di Fuca and Mister Baby.
Eurocosmesi further widens its offer with the Braccialini brand. Coswell Group signs two important new acquisitions: Fave di Fuca and Mister Baby.
2016
Euritalia acquires Lenigola brand.
Euritalia reinforces its portfolio with the acquisition of a historic brand present in pharmacies: Lenigola.
2018
Acquisition of Famac, new Brand division Farmacia delle Erbe and new Playboy distribution license.
2019
Coswell Group has won the prestigious "Deloitte Best Managed Companies" prize, awarded by Deloitte in collaboration with Cattolica University and Confindustria. Coswell publishes the first "Sustainability Report", confirming the company's full adherence to ESG principles. Coswell will also get the same award for the year 2020 and 2021.
2020
Acquisition of the Verum, Rinosol, Acuvis brands from Aboca S.p.A., initiating the marketing of these products through the Euritalia Pharma division.
2021
Acquisition of Vim, Ballerina and Drago brands.
2022
Distribution of the leading brand Vape insecticides.
